Microsoft Word comes with pre-built page settings for create books. Whether you're creating an event or memory guide, this setting allows you to create a really great book or booklet. And all this from beginning to end.
Create a book or booklet in Word
First, you must open Microsoft Word. It is recommended that you adjust these settings before writing the contents of your book to avoid formatting problems later.
Once you're in Word, go to the "Design" tab. On the "Page Settings" tab, click on the small arrow at the bottom right.
This opens the "Page Settings" window, where it will automatically be in the "Margin" tab. In the "Margins" group, you can set the margins of the page.
By default, the "Channel" margin will be set to 0. This could cause problems later, since the channel margin is the amount of space between the content of your book and the fold where the book pages will be joined. That said, you should give the gutter a margin of 1 ″, so that the content of your book is not lost in the fold.
Then, select the arrow next to "Multiple pages" in the "Pages" group, then select "Book folding" from the drop-down menu. Once selected, you will notice that the orientation of your page automatically changes from «Vertical» to «Horizontal».
Take the following advice: You may see a "Book folding in reverse" option. This is for content that reads from right to left, such as Japanese-style books.
Once you have adjusted the settings, click on "OK".
You can leave the settings as they are
The page setup to create a book or booklet is now complete. There are a lot of things you can do from here depending on what you need for your book.
Also, you may want to add a header or footer, create a table of contents or give the page numbers of your book for easy navigation. We will leave you the content and the complements; We are only here to show you how to create the configuration.
It is also worth noting that, depending on the length of your document, you may have to divide it into several brochures due to the size of the document. What is good because you can join them in a book later.
Print your book or brochure
Once you have finished writing your book, it is time to print. Select the "File" tab, then select "Print," which is in the left pane.
Next, select the second option in the "Settings" group.
A drop-down menu will appear, presenting some different print style options. If you have a duplex printer, select (1) "Print on both sides" and if you want to flip the page at the long or short edge. If your printer does not have this functionality, you must select the option (2) “Print manually on both sides”.
All that remains to be done now is to select Print, and that's it! You will already have your book printed and written in Micrososft Word.
