How to find people on Facebook
The basic option to find other users on Facebook is through the text box of search in the social network, where you will have to hold a series of characters that match with the name of that person. In Facebook, the box is located in the upper left corner of the screen, with a magnifying glass in your interior; in the mobile version is also in the top of the app, along with an icon of a magnifying glass.
Simple search of friends in Facebook
Once you have logged in to Facebook with our account and we can start looking for people who have a profile on Facebook. To do this, you type in the search box above the name of the users (first name and last name as properly as possible) or your email address; then tap on the icon of the magnifying glass on the right side or the key Enter on the keyboard.
After a few seconds will appear a series of results that match the search that we have done. In turn, we can see the profile picture of each user found and the basic information that you will share with your account, such as the city of residence, the school where studying or studied, your marital status, your job or previous jobs or to their tastes, among other personal data. To see more or less information of the users will depend on the level of privacy of each one.
If we find that person we were looking for and we want to interact with it, we can click on multiple options located to the right of your profile, such as Add to my friends or send a message through the icon of the three dots (…).

If we want to perform a search much more accurate we can resort to the search filters of people, in order to find that profile exact user you are looking for. We can add filters like:
- Publications
- Types of publication
- Published in the group
- Location labeled
- Date of publication
And many more. The more options we include in our search, the more accurate results we will find; and that is, if we write the name and city of someone, we will have many more opportunities to give with your profile.
Custom search in Facebook
If the simple search does not work to find the person you are looking for, the time has come to enter more information to narrow the search. Thanks to the advanced search you can enter search filters through to See more results once we have carried out a simple search. The following options will appear:

- People
- Photos
- Videos
- Marketplace
- Pages
- Places
- Groups
- More
If you select any of espas options we will restrict the search in that sense, reducing the number of matches to display candidates that are closest to our search. If we select the option People can go to the left column to select a guideline as Any, Your friends, Public…
Find friends on Facebook
Another option to find people on Facebook is through friends Search, located on the top of the screen, in the same main bar of Facebook, between the Start and the icons of the right such as friend Requests or Messenger. When you press on this option will display a number of users as well as pending Applications or profiles of possible matches in profile, with a greater number of Friends in common with our friends. Each match will be accompanied by the option to Add my friends or Delete.
You can also import friends from other personal accounts such as your e-mail, iCloud, Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo!
Friend requests
Next to the previous icon on the top bar will also appear the icon for friend Requests, another way to access the previous menu of search and in which we can also configure the privacy of our friend requests via Configuration.
