Now you can watch YouTube on your Fire TV without problems

The cold war between Google and Amazon It's officially over. And the end of hostilities means that you can now watch YouTube on your Amazon Fire TV and stream Prime Video on Chromecast and Android TV. All without having to resort to alternative solutions.

Therefore, now you can enjoy the multimedia tools of any TV device or video playback that you like.

Fire TV: Google and Amazon start a war

In 2015, Amazon stopped storing Google Chromecast. Amazon attributed this to the fact that Chromecast has never supported Prime Video. Obviously, this was not too good for Google, so a long dispute began between the two companies.

In 2017, Google retaliated by removing support for the official YouTube application of Amazon products. And although it has always been possible to watch Prime Video on your TV using Chromecast, the dispute meant using an alternative solution instead of an official method.

Google and Amazon call a truce

However, the two companies have left their weapons and asked for a truce. A truce that means you can now watch Amazon Prime Video on Chromecast and Android TV devices. And watch YouTube on Fire TV devices using the official YouTube application.

In a publication for digital media, Google explains how, "as of today, you can stream content directly from the Prime Video application to your TV." You will need «the latest Prime Video application and Android 5.0 or higher or iOS 10.1 or higher on your phone or tablet to receive the update».

Meanwhile, on the Amazon Blog, the company describes everything you need to know about the official YouTube application. It is currently available on Fire TV Stick (2nd Generation), Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Stick Basic Edition and all Fire TV Edition smart TVs.

A great advantage of using the official YouTube application over one of the other solutions is the compatibility with Alexa voice controls. You can ask Alexa to play, pause, resume, fast forward and rewind what you are watching, or play particular types of content.

A victory for consumers who cut the cord

It is time for these two technology giants to resolve their differences. The thaw began in December 2018, when Amazon started selling Chromecast again. However, it has still taken another six months for the truce to be formalized and ended.

This is great news for consumers, who can now watch YouTube on Fire TV and watch Prime Video on Chromecast. However, only one warning if you plan to use Alexa voice controls: Amazon retains Alexa voice recordings unless you delete them.

Finally, it doesn't matter if you have Fire TV or Chromecast; You can see all your TV content, music videos, movies, documentaries and your favorite youtubers on each and every one of these platforms, without having to use any other or without having to go to tricks and third-party software to succeed.
