A good document is a numbered document. So Microsoft Word allows you to number your document and the function is quite easy to use, with many attractive templates to choose from. Also, the numbering is linear; Each page is numbered, so if you need to skip pages in a document, you have to skip several obstacles.
Set up Microsoft Word document
Similarly, the trick to skip pages in a numbered document is to use so-called section breaks. So, the best way to do this is to finish your document first and then change the way it is numbered.
The numbering is not written in stone; You can always change it later, but it will be harder to manage with a work in progress.
Once you have completed the document, you need to reveal the hidden format. To do so, go to the "Start" tab on the ribbon and then click on the button below. Once you've done that, it's time to add sections to the document.
Add sections to your document
Also, the logic behind adding sections in the document is this; The pages you want to exclude or omit numbering must be a completely different section.
This means that just before the pages to be excluded start in the document, you must enter a section break. So, when those pages end, you must add another section where the numbering will continue.
To simplify things, imagine that you have a three page document. So you want the first page to be numbered at 1, the second page to be omitted and the third page to be numbered at 3. This last bit is easy to change, so if you want it to be numbered at 2 instead of 3, you will not have any problem with it.
Now, go to page 1 and navigate to the end of this page. Then, go to the "Design" tab and click on the drop-down menu next to the "Jumps" section. From the menu, select «Next page».
As you can see, this is the first section you have created. So the first page is now a different section, and the second and third page are another section.
In the same way, you need to separate the second page into your own section. So you must go to the end of the second page and insert a section break as you have done before.
Insert page numbers
Now, go to the "Insert" tab on the ribbon and use the "Page Number" button to insert page numbers. Navigate to the second page, which is the section in which you want to skip page numbering.
Go to the "Insert" tab and from the "Page number" tool, select the "delete page number" option. This will remove page numbers only for that page or section.
Similarly, go to the page where you want to reset the numbering and insert the page numbers. The numbering will continue in the next section.
To select how to number, that is, if you continue with 3 or start at 2, select the number from which you want to continue numbering. That should do the trick for Microsoft Word.
Also, the configuration is a bit difficult to understand, so doing this after completing a document is the best course of action. Make sure the header and numbering are not linked to previous sections or this simply won't work.
