How to resize partitions on Windows without losing data

If you have arrived at this article surely it is because you want to resize partitions in Windows 10, 8 or 7 without losing data of any kind. It is well known that the operating system of windows includes a Disk Administrator that allows us to create partitions, resize them and even delete them. However, its functions in many cases is limited, especially if we talk about changing the format of the hard drive, among other things. Some time ago we taught you to recover deleted data from the system and today we will teach you to Resize partitions of a disk through a simple program, which we can download for free.

Resize hard disk partitions to extend the volumes with EaseUS Partition Master

We just mentioned it: resizing partitions of a hard disk is possible from the Windows Disk Manager itself. Unfortunately, the number of functions of this tool, as well as the partitioning format, are limited. This is the reason why we are forced to resort to programs to partition the hard drive. EaseUS Partition Master Free It is one of the best, and can be downloaded for free on the official website of the developer. In addition, it is compatible with Windows 10, 8, 7 and even XP.

Once we have installed it in our team (we should pay attention to the installation windows to not install other programs), we will open it like any other program. Next, an interface similar to this will appear:

Next we will select the hard disk that we want to partition and we will right click on it. In our case we have chosen the local Disk C :, although you can choose the one you want. Next we will be shown a series of actions to be carried out (move, duplicate, erase, etc.), but the one that interests us is that of Resize.

When we have selected the Resize option, we will see a window similar to the one we can see above this paragraph. To resize the unit in question, all we have to do is Drag the end of the bar with the available space until you leave enough space for a new partition. We must bear in mind that there is a space limit based on the space we have occupied on our hard drive, which is why it is recommended to delete some files before opening the EaseUS Partition Manager program.

After having selected the space that we want to leave free in the new partition, we can already click on OK (if we have a hard disk SSD we must leave checked the option of Optimize for SSD). To apply the changes, as simple as Click on the Check icon on the top of the program and all modifications will automatically be applied.

Now we can already format this partition to change the format to NTFS, FAT32 or any of the formats available in the application by clicking on the right button on the unit in question. After this, we will apply the changes again and, finally, we will have two totally different partitions and without having lost a bit of our data.
